South East Asia Magical Mystery Tour

The expat and I are slowly recovering from our whirlwind tour of SE Asia. The expat's mom (or the Expat's Wife's Mother in Law, your choice), brother Sam, grandma along with 4 friends (Jan, Kate, and Phil Reynolds and grandma's friend Elenor) traveled with us. We visited Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.

During our travels, we held a contest of who could spot the most absurd motorbike load. There are 4 million motorbikes in Saigon and they are used to carry everything! Supposedly 30 people die a day in accidents within the city. Helmets were just made mandatory 2 months ago.

Spottings included:

Dragon heads for dance
Drinking straws
Garbage Truck
Eggs
Pastry Oven
Drywall
Cement Mixer
Bricks
Aluminum Sheets
Refrigerator
Bamboo Shoots
5 Pigs
Happy Buddha Statues
Mail Truck
Folding Chairs
Durian
Water Heater
Mattresses
6 People
Very dangerously long rebar

Feather Dusters
Phil won the contest with the Cement Mixer motorbike.

This is a picture of the electrical wires in Saigon- but it was like this everywhere...yikes!
O-H-I-O at Angkor Thom. Hopefully this picture will get us on the scoreboard at a Buckeyes game!

We liked Cambodia and they liked us. They call Americans "Green Grass" because our green money helps their grass (country) to grow. Cambodia is a very poor country, but the people are friendly and the scenery is beautiful!
